Years ago in 7th grade my friend and I decided we would show up to our eighth grade formal in colorful tailored suits. We tried to get the rest of our friends in on it because we thought it was such a cool idea. It never really occurred to me that if we actually went forth with our plan that we'd be breaking so many barriers in the non-fashion like minds of our fellow classmates until I'd read the article 'Suit Up Sister' in Glamour. The article featured several colorful pant suits ready for the spring runway. So I took the liberty to dig deep into the pantsuit trend and see what designers were putting out there.
Mui Mui showed this oxblood pantsuit in the Fall ready-to-wear 2012 collection. I love the higher waist on the pants and how it has more of a masculine cut on it.
Jean Paul Gaultier took a different approach on the pantsuit by adding graphic detail to the top of the trouser and jacket. I am really feeling that furry piece the model has draped over her shoulder.
I feel like this is a more urban take on the pantsuit. By adding a crop top under as a shirt Salvatore Ferragamo uses a very light heather grey like material that would go perfect with a clear heel.
Alright Giorgio Armani I'd definitely have to watch my back around your model especially when she's looking like she's from the mafia. There just something much cooler in the air when I see this suit. The fabric is amazing and the accessories paired with it are too grand. It's like a new and improved zoot suit.
I feel like Moschino was trying to do an ode to good ole' Texas when they designed this suit. The jacket is amazing, the sailor stripes go perfectly with the navy blue ribbon tie and the ankle cropped pants. Plus that cowboy hat, I mean come on to great.
Narciso Rodriguez took on a more modern look with their pant suit. The jacket is tailored more for woman with the lower cut neckline and attachment at the top.
This feminine version of the pinstripe suit is a very chic look by Jean Paul Gaultier. The hair tie is very Elizabeth Taylor and the fur stole is just glamorous.
Can I please have this cotton candy Balenciaga pantsuit? It's gorgeous. A cropped jacket and a high pleated pant. I love it.

I absolutely love the Narciso Rodriguez and Balenciaga pantsuits. And your idea of wearing pantsuits to a formal is brilliant. It sort of makes me want to wear one to prom just to annoy everyone else. Hahah.
