The Scoop: Kim from Sensible Stylista

Well it's that time again to present to you another fashion wonder from around the world! This is the second entry in my interview segment called "the Scoop." Today we've got a Sensible Stylista.

Meet Kim..

 Name
Kimberly K. from Sensible Stylista

 Occupation/Grade
I’m getting my doctorate in piano performance and my master’s degree in musicology at the Peabody Institute of JHU.

How would you describe you style?
Early professional with a playful twist

What is your favorite piece in your closet?
That’s such a hard question to answer.  I guess my current favorites are my over-the-knee Guess boots, Burberry Trench, and J. Crew Factory Neon Statement Necklace.

What is the best thing you found at a good price?
I once found an Armani blazer (retailed at $1500) for $250 dollars at Nordstrom’s Rack.

How do you go at finding Sensible Styles?
I love shopping at discount stores like TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, and Off Saks Fifth, and I scour their clearance/sale racks for hidden gems.  I also make sure to do my research.  If there is a sale or promotion going on, I’ll definitely know about it.

Your're not only just a style blog, tell me about your other ventures?
I also blog about beauty and fitness.  I review exercise DVDS, share healthy recipes, do monthly beauty favorites, etc.

When did you start your blog and why?
I started blogging in 2011, while I was living in NYC.  I was constantly inspired by the amazing fashionistas around me, so I decided to blog and monitor my own style journey.

Favorite Designer?
That’s such a tough question.  I’ve been loving Rachel Zoe and Rebecca Minkoff as of late.

 Who inspires you?
I find inspiration everywhere: magazines, fellow bloggers, TV shows, etc.

Trapped on an island full of shoes or working with Marc Jacob?
Wow.  That’s tough.  I think I’d have to go with working with Marc Jacobs.

Where can we find you?
www.sensiblestylista.blogspot.com.  I’m also very active on twitter (@sensiblestylist), so don’t forget to chat me up =)

That's the end of another segment of 'The Scoop.' Hope you enjoy and thank you Kim for the interview!

March Obsessions: American Apparel Edition

Hey guys I hope your Spring is going better than mine! It's been pretty chilly since the season has changed and I can only say I've seen the sun for about 2 days. Also I just caught an injury from soccer so I will probably be out a little while on the outfit post. Sorry, but I will try my best; I will not let an injury take me out the game.
This month I decided to base my obsessions off of one one my favorite stores, American Apparel. I was inspired by the pintrest contest they were hosting (here).

5. Striped Knee High Sock
I've been feeling skater vibes for some reason and these socks with a pair of vans are a perfect match!

4. Mid Length Pocket Tank
This is just a basic tank top that comes in colors that are perfect for every skin tone. The tank top would look fabulous paired with a pair of cut offs, high waist shorts or even when fall comes back around boyfriend jeans and a blazer.

3. Baby Rib Cross Back Dress
I really, really, really, really want this dress in pale yellow. It's so pretty and the material is a soft cotton. It would look great with a cute floral blazer for that spring vibe.

2. Micro-Poly High-Waist Pleated Pant
I tried these pants on when I went to the American Apparel store and I fell in love. They are tailored perfectly and make your butt look SUPER. Great with a pair of cute moccasins.

And the #1 American Apparel item I am obsessed with this month is.....

1. Printed Cotton Spandex Jersey Double U-Neck Dress
The aztec print on this dress is GORGEOUS. This dress would look perfect with a pair of white chucks and sunnies. Now all I need to do is get it in my closet.

What are your favorite American Apparel looks this season?

Black Tights-Target
White Converse-Lady Foot Locker
Black Purse-Anne Klein
Today I finally got to wear shorts! The weather was perfect thanks to a wonderful season called Spring. Hello spring and thank you for coming at just the right time. My mom picked up these awesome scalloped shorts from Belk. They are Free People and fabulous (I also I have them in hot pink)Here is a link to the shorts. Also I broke out my Chile matte lipstick that I haven't worn in months to give my self a somewhat French look which leads me to the next very French thing I saw today,  BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.
My friend Lucy, starred as Babette the feather dusty in the play at her school. It awesome everyone had cute little french accents and the costumes were spot on. Glad I could've went!

What are you guys excited to break out this Spring?

Red Crop Top

Well this is probably the most obvious title I think I've had. Lately I've been a little M.I.A when I comes to outfit post, and I must say I've had some pretty good outfits, this is due to the fact that I've been on a school trip and trying to get my grades together so I apologize now if you don't see much from me in the future.

I took these pictures a few weeks ago. It was on the set (wow I'm making this sound like a legitimate photo shoot   of a photography competition for a school club I am in, one of which I did not win; bummer. But anyways I got this red crop top from Amazon at $8 and did I mention it was American Apparel; that ladies and gentleman is what you call a steal.
Lately in the fashion world I have noticed a trend in holographic pieces and I must say I am feeling it. From skirts to nails to purses the trend has caught on very fast and even seen in some desginer pieces such as Bluemarine's Spring 2012 collection and Burberry's Spring 2013 collection.
Here are a few Hologrpahic pieces:

Burberry Spring 2013

I'm loving the coats. The shiny print would bring every eye to you once you step in the room and gives the models a high couture Matrix look. Well if the Matrix was high couture.

Bluemarine Spring 2012

Can we first start by looking at the shoes? They remind me of a holographic version of the Adidas American flag Print shoes with the wings. These looks give off a futuristic biker chick look. I love how they mixed the two very different looks together and the large jewelry is gorgeous. Very well done.

Alright is it just me or was all of that just very Zenon? Do you guys remember that movie? Loved it!

How do you feel about the Holographic Trend?

I know I might be late, seeing as thought this collection came out in Fall of 2012, but I must say I adore this. It's so wonderfully crafted and the pieces are ridiculously amazing. I love the Montague sweaters! It just reminds of of Romeo +  Juliet with Leonardo DiCaprio. Plus the boy who plays Romeo is pretty cute.

4. Revlon's Berry Haute Lipstick
I've recently made a purchase that has changed my life. Revlon's Berry Haute lipstick is a pinkish purple color that brightness up lips and when it begans to fade away it leaves a pinkish strawberry looks very natural.

3. Suspender Leggings
These are so cool. I feel like a goofball by saying that, but they are just that. I really really want a pair. They're edgy and would look really good with a pair of shorts.

2. Lace Bra's or I as I call them 'Pretty Bras'
I don't exactly know what you do with them or why they are necassary at all (seeing as though they give you no support) but I just really want one.

Alright this is the shoe that I am OBSESSING S over the most right now. It's literally a cut up motorcyle ankle boot. I want want want it NOW. However I don't have the cash. Guess I'll be waiting a while.

The English Channel

It's been forever and a day since I've posted an outfit post, I just want to apologize for that.
So let's not wait and get into this madness.

Baby Doll Dress-Forever 21
Black Blazer-H&M
Brown Over the Knee Socks
Black Bowler Hat-Ebay
Oxfords
Black Infinity Scarf-Urban Outfitters

I decided to wear an all black outfit today for who knows what reason. The irony behind the whole thing is that I wore it to church; talk about major witchy vibes. I never really wore this dress before because to say the least it was a little unflattering, but I worked it out by balancing it with a scarf and blazer.
By the way I don't know if you all know but I am a street teamer for Motel Rocks so check out their website and purchase something using the code word teenage_dirtnag for a stellar 20% off.
Here are a few pieces I'm loving from them right now (click the pictures to check out the link):

New York Fashion Week Street Style

Agh New York Fashion Week. Don't you jut feel like you took a trip to the spa when you say those words? NYFW should just be considered a holiday on the calendar. It's just as good as Christmas. Designers unveiling their sweet new collections as fashion lovers get a look at what's going to be hot this year. Although I am not lucky enough to be attending thing gran event I thought I'd share some images of some of the street style of those who partook at this event because although the runway may be showcasing some good looks the street also has a few independent designers itself. I mean it takes balls to piece together and outfit for NYFW.

(Margaret Zhang)
I live the grey on grey! The my hung of two different pints in the same color family is classic and an easy way to formulate a cute quick outfit. I'm dying over this coat by the way it's very Louis Vuitton S/S 2013.

(Bryan Boy)
I love how this outfit gives off the Matrix meets Fashion Week.

(Doutzen kroes)
The winter vibes that are coming off this outfit makes me want to play in the snow and I hate the snow so that means a lot.  I like how she paired it with boots to give it a tougher look.

(2 looks from Harpers Bazaar)
The first girls coat is stunning. I love the idea of a  military styles coat with length. As for the second girl. I have been having a fur obsession lately and that fact thy she has a fur coat on is rad. I really need to get one.

I wish I could see the whole outfit but since I can't ill just go just about what is seen. The leg necklace officially has a place in my heart. It's so cheeky and I live how it gives a non serious look to the it got. Also that sweater is very casual chic. He print is very cute.

Well now that I've grace you with a few street style pictures I'm glad to announce that I have been featured on the Independent Fashion Bloggers Links a la Mode!!!!
I seriously wouldn't have known if I hadn't looked at a message someone sent me. Thank you to my Clueless post and congrats to everyone else who was featured.
